The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, when the small aircraft, experiencing complications, plummeted into the sea near the island of St. Vincent.

The accident took place on the afternoon of Thursday, January 4, 2024, as the family was en route to St. Lucia. Officials confirmed that the one-engine plane, registered as N4023B and piloted by Robert Sachs from Bequia, had barely made it a nautical mile offshore before it faltered and crashed into the ocean. The heartbreaking news left both locals and Hollywood figures in shock, mourning the loss of such a young family taken so suddenly.

The Grenadines Police Force shared details of the tragic event in a press release posted on Facebook. According to the statement, the plane had departed from J.F. Mitchell Airport in Paget Farm at approximately 12:11 p.m. on its way to St. Lucia. After lifting off, the aircraft encountered difficulties, resulting in a disastrous plunge into the water. Fishermen and divers from the surrounding area immediately responded, attempting to assist, while the SVG Coast Guard quickly arrived on the scene to take charge of the rescue operations. Despite their efforts, the outcome was devastating.

Oliver also made his mark in the television world, notably appearing in Saved By The Bell: The New Class, an updated version of the iconic 90s series.

The heartbreaking loss was deeply felt by Christian’s wife, Jessica Klepser, who took to Instagram to share her grief and express her family’s sorrow. In her emotional post, she wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic plane accident on January 4, 2024, which took the lives of our beloved family members. Our daughters, Madita (12), and Annik (10), along with their father Christian, were returning from a holiday in the Caribbean when the single-engine plane they were traveling in experienced engine trouble and fell into the ocean.”
