Donald Trump has reignited his controversial interest in Greenland, once again suggesting the U.S. might seize the island — even by military force. In a recent NBC interview, Trump said he doesn’t rule out using force to gain control of Greenland, calling it critical for U.S. and global security.

The former president added, “We need Greenland very badly,” and described its small population as one the U.S. would “cherish.” Greenland’s new Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, firmly rejected the idea, stating, “We will never, ever be a piece of property.”
Trump also floated the idea of Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state, saying he hasn’t discussed it with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney yet, but he’s open to it. He claimed the U.S. “subsidizes Canada” and described removing the border as a “real estate” dream, saying, “What a beautiful country it would be.”
