Community Mourns Loss of Family of Five in Highway

A Colorado family of five — including three children — has passed away following a collision on Highway 9 near Kremmling on August 4, 2025. Authorities say a Ford F-150 crossed into the southbound lane and struck the family’s GMC Yukon. The victims were identified as Andrea Banuelos-Salazar, 30; Manuel Cabral-Torres, 34; and their children Maria, 12; Manuel, 5; and Andres, 2. All were residents of Kremmling and originally from Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico.

They were just minutes from home when the incident occurred. The driver of the pickup truck, a 25-year-old man, sustained serious injuries. The cause remains under investigation. The loss has deeply affected the West Grand School District, where some of the children attended. In a statement, the district shared condolences and promised support for classmates, friends, and neighbors during this difficult time.

Family members described the Cabral-Banuelos family as loving, close-knit, and devoted to spending time together. Cousin Javier Torres-Garcia said Manuel was the type of person who always found time for family, even during short visits. A GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with memorial and transportation expenses has already surpassed its $80,000 goal.

The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of kindness and generosity from friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Community members have shared tributes online, reflecting on the family’s positive impact and urging drivers to remain attentive on the road. As Kremmling comes together to grieve, the Cabral-Banuelos family is being remembered for the love, joy, and warmth they brought to those around them.
