Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki recently opened up about the moments they might erase from their long-running hit series, Supernatural, which aired for 15 seasons until 2020.

During a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary, Ackles, who played demon hunter Dean Winchester, Padalecki, who played Dean’s younger brother Sam, and Misha Collins, who portrayed angel Castiel, reflected on their experiences filming the beloved series.

When asked to name a scene they would “like to erase” from the show’s history, Ackles didn’t hesitate. He singled out a sequence from Season 13, Episode 23, “Let the Good Times Roll,” where Dean fights Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) in the air.

“That’s easy for me. Fight scene with Lucifer. The marionette fight scene,” Ackles said.

Collins admitted he couldn’t think of any particular scene he’d want to remove. Padalecki, however, joked about Sam’s grey hair in the series finale, which signaled the passage of decades.

Oh! Okay, I got mine. The wig scene in the finale. That one wig was difficult,” Padalecki told the publication.

Ackles agreed with his co-star. “Yes! [They] should have just put a bald cap on you and called it a day.”

“Or something,” Padalecki added.

Ackles on His Original Thoughts About Dean’s Fate

This isn’t the first time Ackles has shared critiques about Supernatural. In a January 2022 interview on actor Michael Rosenbaum‘s podcast Inside of You, Ackles revealed he initially “didn’t like” the script for the series finale, particularly Dean’s death following a vampire fight.

“I always thought that if someone was going to go, it was going to be Sam. Honestly, as a kind of Martyr. And Dean would be left to stumble through the rest of his life,” Ackles said. He also mentioned that he had once envisioned Sam and Dean dying together.

Ackles eventually came around to the finale’s outcome after discussing it with the show’s creator, Eric Kripke, who left Supernatural after Season

“He ended up sending me this incredibly well-written email, explaining why he thought this was a great ending. And it put things in perspective for me. From then on, I was on board,” Ackles shared.
