Supernatural Cast Reveals Which Characters They Wished Had More Screen Time — And Fans Are Thrilled!

Supernatural was an iconic show not just because of its leading circle of talent (although we love them too), but also because of the recurring guest stars who would pop in and out along the way. While Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles), Castiel (Misha Collins), and other plot-driving characters are considered the faces of the series, their supporting pals packed just as much of a punch.
Over the weekend during the Supernatural panel at MegaCon Orlando, Collider’s Maggie Lovitt reported a lineup that included Padalecki, Jim Beaver, Samantha Smith, Alexander Calvert, DJ Qualls, Mark Sheppard, and Ruth Connell chatting about who they wish they could have spent more on-screen time with. And, let’s just say, the first response was incredibly popular.
Before the panel’s moderator could even ask, Padalecki eagerly shouted “Charlie!”, referencing Felicia Day’s beloved, gone-too-soon character. Fans agreed instantly, as the entire auditorium erupted into cheers and thunderous applause. Connell added, “Same. Yeah, Charlie. I mean, Felicia and I actually talked about going and filming a road trip just by ourselves.” Fully supporting the spin-off series that we never knew we needed, Padalecki chimed in, “Redheads unite. Rowena and Charlie? I’d watch that show.”
Felicia Day’s Charlie Bradbury first hacked her way into the hearts of the fandom in Season 7, helping Sam and Dean with her computer skills. The character appeared in a handful of other episodes, but the creative team never brought her around as much as fans—or apparently the cast—would have liked before she was rudely killed off in Season 20.
In addition to Day’s Charlie, Beaver suggested he would have liked to see more of Kim Rhodes’ Sheriff Mills, while Connell revealed that she and Smith had long been hoping to share more screentime:
“In all seriousness, Sam and I who were great friends from doing these wonderful conventions, we tried really hard to be in a scene together. You all can’t see it, it wasn’t edited in, but you know the episode where I kind of make a vagina in the air? Sam and I kept making as much eye contact as we possibly could in the scene thinking that maybe somebody would notice or somehow we really could have acted together. We tried.”
Smith added that, along with Connell and Day, “I think I would have liked to have more scenes with Jeff [Dean Morgan],” which would have given fans more of those heartbreakingly loving sequences between Sam and Dean’s parents.
