I was full of joy driving to the hospital to bring Suzie and our newborn twins home. I had spent days getting the nursery ready, making a special dinner, and even picked up balloons. But when I got there, Suzie was gone. Only our daughters were there—alongside a handwritten note: “Goodbye. Take care of them. Ask your mother WHY she did this to me.” Shocked, I asked the nurse, “Where’s my wife?” “She checked out earlier today,” she replied. “She said you were aware.” I wasn’t.
